Soccer 2008This is the 3rd week in a row that the referee in our game (INTER TIER TWO) has come to me with an added goal against my team.
Refs, please pay closer attention to the game. As coach, my job is hard enough without dreading signing off on my game knowing you will have added a goal against my team's final score. I have now refused 3 weeks in a row for incorrect scoring, and the first week in I missed one and it was also incorrect.
This is NOT fair play.

Soccer 2008

Hello everyone,

Just a quick note to please please tell all of your coaches to make the kids pick up their empty or sometimes full water bottles when their game is over.

Mackenzie and I picked up about 15 bottles from both benches on Tuesday night. I know they have been told before so please tell them again.

We have 5 garbage bins to use.

Thank You,

 Sharon

Parents need to be more appreciative of coaches!  View Printable Version

Soccer 2008We're only less than a month into the season with Quinndale, a new league for us as coaches, and we are so disheartened by some of the negative emails, attitudes and overall lack of respect we have received.

My husband works 12 hour shifts, and coaches here. I am his assistant. We have a teen assistant as well.

Already I've been told I am not doing a good job, some parents think I am not assistant material. My husband has been criticized instead of applauded for the passion of the game he teaches these kids.

We're trying to encourage parents to show up to practices. I sent an email to those who don't, stating this. I have heard nothing but anger and disrespect since.

So far, I am really disgusted at the attitudes. We've dealt with parents before in such scenarios and know this isn't the majority thankfully, but I wonder often why there is so little courtesy or respect given to people who give of their time to coach? We don't have to do this. And threatening us will not make us quit. Why do you sign up your children if you refuse to follow the rules of the league? Or come to practices? The children who do come to all practices or call when they can't, are the ones who suffer when those who can't be bothered act this way.

I am very sad about this. We come from soccer backgrounds, playing, as well as family who coached/refereed professionally. We have a lot to offer.

Please parents, listen, respect and care about your coaches. They're trying to teach your children as well as juggle your anger and criticism.

A true team player !  View Printable Version

Soccer 2008During our week 2 Inter tier 1 game I had the pleasure of hearing a true sportsman speak. During a centre kick one of the other teams children was nastily taunting our centre forward regarding them being in the lead. Our teams player simply responded " We are just here to have fun so if your not than you're the one losing." I was so proud of our player. If all of our players/coaches and parents could have this this attitude and enthusiasm this will be a great year! Way to go Adam!!!

Soccer 2008
Dear Parents:
With the Soccer Season kicking off this week, the Quinndale Community Council, the Coaches, the Referees and especially the players would like to remind all Parents and spectators of a few simple but very important Code of Conduct requirements.

The City of Hamilton’s Zero Tolerance Policy is in full effect, before, during and after games and practices. One negative incident is one too many. Therefore inappropriate behavior such as physical violence or verbal abuse will not be tolerated at the soccer park and will be dealt with promptly by the Referee and / or the Council. One warning will be issued and if the behavior continues the person or persons will be asked to leave the park.

Spectators – please let the coaches, coach and the referees, ref the games.
Remember the importance of playing soccer is Participation, Learning, Developing, and having Fun!

The following are a few of the important rules and expectations:
All Games are played Rain or Shine. If there is a weather advisory, we recommend proceeding to the soccer field, where the decision to play game or reschedule will be made by the Council. We cancel games due to active weather at the time of the game. If the weather passes the game may proceed.
  • A parent or a guardian must attend all games and practices to ensure the safety of your child, as well as provide disciplinary action if necessary.
  • A Quinndale issued team uniforms must be worn at each game – no substitution of any part of the uniform is allowed. Players will not be allowed to play the game if any part of the uniform or protective equipment is missing, including soccer shoes and shin pads.
  • No child shall wear jewellery of any kind during games and practices. Please remove the jewellery before coming to the park- Safety is our first priority.
  • It is at your coaches’ discretion to cancel practices due to weather issues (i.e. rain or extreme heat).
  • Spectators are asked to watch the games from the North side of the soccer pitch. The South side is reserved for the players and coaches. Exception – from time to time your child may need your assistance during the game. Promptly return to the north side of the field once the issue has been resolved.
  • Please remember that all of the coaches and the volunteers give up endless hours of their time on your child’s behalf. Keep this in mind when communicating with them. Please contact your child’s coach if your child will not be attending a game or a practice.
  • If you have any questions or concerns during the season please do not hesitate to approach a coach or council member.
